These ministers are entrusted with the special responsibility of distributing the Body and Blood of Christ during Mass. They should be in good standing with the Church and have a special devotion to the Eucharist. A special training and mandation are required. They also welcome parishioners to Mass. Some distribute Holy Communion to the homes of parishioners who are unable to attend Mass and some also take Holy Communion to the hospital and nursing homes.
