Children’s Liturgy of the Word

A special Word service is held for children ages 4 years old through second grade during Sunday Mass. The children are invited to go with an adult leader during part of the Mass where they have their own readings based on the Sunday Scriptures, their own homily, their own petitions and their own Profession of Faith. Children return to Church during the offertory collection time. Materials are provided to the volunteer adult leaders to assist their planning. Jr. High/Sr. High students or adult volunteers assist the leader in managing the group. Volunteers are needed to maintain and expand the service of this ministry.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

Do you know someone who is interested in the Catholic Faith? This is a “no obligation” investigation of the Catholic Church. It is a “no pressure, bring your questions and let’s discuss them” program. We meet once a week on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. The program is also open to those who were baptized Catholic but never received their First Communion and/or Confirmation or any Catholic who would like to know more about their faith. RCIA goes from September to Easter.

Bible Studies will be offered to go and grow deeper in sacred Scripture, and to foster spiritual growth through prayer, discussion and faith sharing. Apologetics sessions will be held to help us learn more about our Catholic faith so that we know why we do what we do as Catholics and enable us to defend the Catholic faith in order to explain and defend the faith in a positive as well.  The aim is to foster spiritual growth through prayer, discussion and faith sharing.

Check out our Bible Basics and Catholic Apologetics pages on our website for further commentary on these topics.

That Man Is You!

TMIY_Cover_2000 x 1035

“That Man is You!” (TMIY!) is transforming men, families and society as it presents the vision of man fully alive. Combining the teachings of the Church and wisdom of the saints with the best research from modern science in an interactive, multimedia format! “That Man is You!” is a 5 year program that puts this vision within the grasp of every man.

The first year of “That Man is You!” leadership program, entitled “Becoming a Man after God’s own Heart,” develops the vision of authentic male leadership based on the four leadership roles entrusted to men and firmly establishes the first step in leadership as personal union with God. The program opens the pathway to authentic leadership by providing the means for overcoming the three main obstacles in the spiritual life and strengthening the individual’s union with God.

TMIY identifies “seven simple steps” for finding union with God in the home:

  • Honor your wedding vows.
  • Eat dinner together.
  • Give God some of your time.
  • Set your mind on the things above.
  • Find God in other people.
  • Find God in yourself.
  • Make it easy to be good and hard to be bad.

“That Man is You!” sessions are presented over 13 weeks on Thursday Mornings at 6:30 am at The Knights of Columbus Hall. See the national website at: http://www.paradisusdei.org/index.php/programs/tmiy

Households/ Godparents

The Godparent/Household program is a model of youth ministry that meets the needs of teens by being both relational and relevant through small group discipleship. In the great commission, Christ sent His apostles out in groups, which then formed other small groups. So, too, we imitate Christ in our discipleship groups. Our small peer groups meet in the home of a faith filled & fun Catholic couple each Wednesday night 7-8:30pm during the school year. It is here that our teens are formed with the faith and equipped to then themselves be sent.
